| John's Accomplishments
John Pappageorge’s life has
been one of many accomplishments. Whether it was negotiating peace
on an international scale for the Department of State, leading troops
into battle, or raising a respectable family while being a devoted husband,
John has never shied away from responsibility and the results speak
for themselves. His time in the Michigan Senate has been no different.
Leading the Way on Jobs:
John has shown a knack for
tackling big projects and achieving real results. On job creation,
Pappageorge has been second to none in the Michigan Senate. Legislation
that he sponsored and later had enacted into law (Public Act 6 of 2009)
helped to create an entire new industry of advanced battery technology
and manufacturing in Michigan.
The Michigan Economic Development
Corporation recently touted that Pappageorge’s legislation is responsible
for creating 8,000 new jobs in Michigan and over $5 billion of new business
investment.
John has also been successful
in his efforts to give job providers the tools they need to create jobs.
He has already sponsored and enacted six laws that have lowered the
Michigan Business tax liability of our small businesses ,
clearing the way for new investment and new jobs. He was also
recognized by the Michigan Chamber of Commerce in 2008 as a “Champion
of Commerce” for his efforts to improve Michigan’s job climate
and economic competitiveness.
Recognized Excellence:
In his short time in the Senate,
John Pappageorge has been recognized by many for his efforts.
The following are just a few awards and recognitions he has received
since joining the Senate.
- “Legislative Leadership
Award”, Michigan State Medical Society 2010
- “Champion of Hope”
award, National Kidney Foundation, 2009
- “Guardian Award”
National Federation of Independent Business 2008
- “Champion of Commerce”,
Michigan Chamber of Commerce 2008
- “Senate Legislator
of the Year”, Hemophilia Foundation of MI 2008
- “Legislator of
the Year, “Dads and Moms of Michigan 2008
- “Public Service
Leadership Award, Area Agency on Aging 1-B 2008
- “Jack W. Turner
Spirit of America Award”, City of Troy 2007
A Leader in the Senate
John is a leader amongst his
peers in the Senate. Despite being in his first term, he is Vice Chair
of the all-important Senate Appropriations Committee, Chair of the General
Government budget subcommittee, which includes the Michigan Economic
Development Corporation, Treasury Department and 8 others. He
also sits on the powerful Finance Committee, responsible for tax policy.
All are great opportunities for John to further an agenda of restrained
government spending and tax reform that creates jobs. We need to send
John back to the State Senate so he can keep providing
the leadership and vision our state needs to get back on its feet.
